In Celebration of

Johanna Bartl

May 23, 1928 -  February 13, 2018

Was taken from us too quickly after a brief illness in her 90th year. She was the devoted wife of Willibald Bartl (d. 1994), dearest mother of Dolores (Andreas) and loving Oma to Alexander (Sheryl) and Christopher (Lauren).

Johanna or “Hansi” was born in Neufelden, Austria into a close and loving family that later moved to Linz where she married the love of her life. Together, they immigrated to Toronto in 1953 where they made many new friends and a new life together as proud Canadians while continuing to support their Austrian culture.

She will be remembered for her wicked sense of humour and boisterous laugh and will forever be in the hearts of her sister, Christine Hammer in Linz, godchildren Brigitte, Elizabeth, Diana, Arthur, and many nieces and nephews in Canada and Austria.

Johanna cared deeply for all living things around her; her family, friends and neighbours, her garden full of colourful flowers and sweet fruits as well as many pets and wildlife that surrounded her home in East York and cottage at Cedar Point.

Special thanks to Dr. Jacqueline Ringnalda, Dr. David Harrison and Dr. Donald Kim for your kind and compassionate care.

Visitation will be held at Turner & Porter Peel Chapel, 2810 Hurontario St., Mississauga, on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Friday, February 23, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with visitation from 12 noon to 1p.m. Reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the City of Mississauga’s SCARF fund which provides emergency medical aid, foster support and comfort to shelter animals until they are placed in forever homes. Donations are welcome by phone at 905-896-5858 #2.

Liebe Schwester,
ruhe in Frieden! Die Gespräche mit dir - weit über das Meer - werden mir fehlen!
Nun bin ich als Letzte unserer Familie übrig geblieben!
In meinem Herzen bleibe ich mit dir verbunden!

To my godmother,
during her live so far away,
always thinking of our birthdays...

Der Mensch, den wir lieben, ist nicht mehr da.
Aber er ist überall, wo wir sind und seiner gedenken.

To Delores and family:
I just heard about your loss today, during Family Day. I will forever remember your mother's laugh and sense of humour. She loved her family so much. I was informed she was surrounded by her family at home in her final moments. I know you are grieving right now, but let's remember to celebrate her wonderful life as well.
My thoughts and prayers will be with you and your family.

Phil
