It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Joao Melo on December 9, 2023. Joao was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, and a dear brother. He was born in Sao Miguel Azores, Portugal, and moved to Canada in 1971, driven by a deep commitment to provide a better life for his beloved family.
Joao is survived by his loving wife, Melania Melo, with whom he shared a lifetime of joys and challenges. Together, they built a foundation of love and resilience that has inspired those around them.
As a father, Joao was a source of strength and guidance to his children. He leaves behind a legacy of love in his daughters Paula (Luis), Helen (Steve), and sons Steve (Angie) and Kevin (Christine). Joao's devotion to his family extended to his role as a grandfather, bringing immense joy to the lives of Ryan, Neve, Aria, Elana, and Henry. He will be dearly missed. His love and lessons will continue to resonate through the generations.
Joao is survived by his brothers Ernesto, Leonel, Miguel and sisters Connie and Leonor, who he loved very much. He was predeceased by his brother, Jose, whose memory he held dear in his heart.
