In Celebration of

João Aguiar Amaral

March 20, 1936 -  May 26, 2025

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of João Aguiar Amaral, who departed peacefully on May 26, 2025, at the age of 89. João was a devoted husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend—fondly remembered for his unwavering love for his family.

Born in São Miguel on March 20, 1936, João lived a life defined by resilience, dedication, and strength. He married the love of his life, Maria Rosa, on February 20, 1960. Together, they built a beautiful family rooted in unconditional love and care for those around them. In 1974, João immigrated to Canada, seeking to provide greater opportunities for his loved ones. He worked tirelessly to ensure their well-being and happiness.

João’s legacy lives on through the values he instilled, the stories he shared, and the many lives he touched. He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife Maria Rosa; his children Rosa (Julio), Antonio (Elizabeth), Octavio (Aida), and Joe (Sara); his cherished grandchildren Christopher, Jessica, Michelle, Ryan, Serena, Dylan and Nathan; great-grandchildren Jayden, Kyrie and Kamryn; his extended family; and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Family and friends may call at Turner & Porter - Peel Chapel, 2180 Hurontario, Mississauga, on Sunday, June 1, 2025 from 2-4 & 6-9 p.m.

Funeral Mass at Cristo Rei Roman Catholic Church, 3495 Confederation Pkwy., Mississauga, on Monday, June 2, 2025 at 10:00 a.m.

Entombment at Assumption Catholic Cemetery, 6933 Tomken Road, Mississauga.

In honour of João’s memory, the family invites those who wish to do so to make a donation, in lieu of flowers, to the Alzheimer's Society, a cause that is close to their hearts. Donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Ontario online at https://alzheimersocietyinmemoriam.crowdchange.ca/page/joaoamaral
