In Celebration of

Joanne Natalie Olynyk

February 26, 1954 -  May 25, 2021

It is with deep sadness that the family of Joanne Natalie Olynyk announces her passing on May 25, 2021. Joanne passed away peacefully at home in Mississauga, Ontario with her beloved husband Stefano (Radaelli), her son Matthew and her sister Andrea at her side.

She also leaves behind her heartbroken parents Vera and Henry Olynyk, her brother Michael, niece Katie and nephews Andrew and Nicholas, and aunts Natalie (Bundza) and Linda (Bundza) as well as extended family in Toronto and Italy.

Joanne was a thoughtful, gentle and sensitive person who had a passion for history, the arts and travelling. She was very generous, always thinking about others and providing support to her family and friends. A retired special education teacher for the Dufferin Peel Catholic School Board, Joanne had great patience with students, and children gravitated to her warmth and kindness toward them. In her later years, Joanne enjoyed skating, and the friendships she developed at her skating club and yoga classes were extremely meaningful to her.

We are deeply grateful for the compassionate care and support provided by Dr. Emily Kuhlmann throughout Joanne’s illness.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, funeral services will be privately held on Saturday, May 29th, 2021. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Joanne’s memory may be made to Ovarian Cancer Canada.

It was impossible not to be influenced by Joanne's positive attitude and upbeat demeanour.
She had a way of boosting the spirits of anyone she came into contact with, both on and off the ice.
Joanne was a special person who will be very sorely missed.

Joanne often had long conversations with many people over the 2 hr skating session. I was one lucky enough to talk to her on many occasion about all the topics under the sun with wit, humour and a kindly nature. I know she rests in peace.
