In Celebration of

Joan Marie Lee

May 11, 1938 -  June 13, 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our Mother, Nana, Sister, and Friend Joan Lee.

Joan passed away peacefully surrounded by love on Monday, June 13th at the age of 84. She was the loving mother of John (Sue-Anne), Michael (Penny), Austin (Lina), and Tara (Malcolm); proud Nana to John, Jaden, Zoe, Anna, Connor, Ryan, Adam, and devoted sister to John (Mickey) and beloved Auntie Joan to many nieces and nephews.

She will be remembered for her independence, kindness, humor, and class. As a Mother she taught her children strength, compassion, and love; as a social worker, she made the world a better place for many, and as an artist, she made it more beautiful. There is nothing she loved more than her home in the woods, surrounded by animals, friends, and family.

Joan would often say that her greatest role in life was being Nana. She was so proud of all her grandchildren and loved nothing more than to listen to their stories while overruling their parents.

Although we will miss her terribly, we are happy that she has now been reunited with her husband Bruce, parents JJ and Ester Fitzpatrick, brothers Jack, Gerry, William, and sisters Peggy and Anne in heaven.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation in Joan's memory.

JJ, Michael, Austin and Tara:
I know this may sound strange for me to say, but I was both sad and genuinely surprised when I learned that your mom had passed away. She had such a powerful presence, I realize now that part of me believed that she would somehow live forever. I have many special memories of your mom, she was truly one of a kind. I wish I could have been there in person with you today. But please know that we were here online. Wishing you moments of peace as you find your way forward.
Love to you all,
Karen
