In Celebration of

Joan Lewis

September 18, 1933 -  September 28, 2017

Joan Mary Lewis (Flynn) passed away peacefully at home in Mississauga on September 28, 2017 after a wonderful life of 84 years. She was much loved by her husband Gerry and their children Stephen (Leanne), Elizabeth and Michael (Tracy), along with her sisters Pauline, Cecily and Colette in Australia. Joan was a devoted and adored grandmother to Emma, Natalie, Adam, Courtney and Alexandria. She was a teacher, a traveller and a lover of nature, history and good conversation. Her friends, family and neighbours will remember her worldly wisdom, always delivered with wit and kindness. Thank you to the staff of Parkland on the Glen, Care Partners and Credit Valley Hospital for their dedicated care.

A celebration of Joan's life will be held on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mississauga Golf & Country Club, 1725 Mississauga Rd.

Donations in Joan’s memory may be made to Doctors Without Borders or the Bruce Trail Conservancy.

One of the many wonderful parents that made shadylawn THE best place to grow up.
I still remember cutting through your backyard getting to and from the credit river. Your mom never thought anything of it, always said 'hi' as if children trespassing was the most normal thing in the world.
thinking of you all.
take good care.

To Gerry and the Lewis Family - We are so sorry for your loss and thinking of you all during this difficult time. This is a beautiful picture of Joan, in nature, a favorite spot of hers. She shared her love of gardening with me and I often think of her when I am puttering about in the yard. Joan was a smart, strong, and interesting woman that we were honored to know and share a conversation or story with.

Take comfort in your wonderful memories.

Love, Jim, Joan, Scott and Allyson

We're so saddened to hear of Joan's passing. We shared many good times together as colleagues and then later as just friends. She will always be remembered as the helpful and wise teacher to whom we all came for advice.

Thanks, Joan.....aka "Grammar Queen."
