In Celebration of

Joan Hart

February 10, 1943 -  July 19, 2017

It is with great sadness that the Hart family announces the sudden passing away of Joan Hart. Joan retired as a Child Psychologist with the Peel Board of Education in 2001. She continued to work 2 days a week for 5 more years, except in winter, as it was ski season. Joan was a long standing member of the Boulevard Club where she met her loving partner and soul mate Derek West who brought light and new energy to her life. Many good years followed; travel, theatre, family, and the company of enriching friends. She was active with downhill skiing, as well as fund raising for the TSO.
Partner Derek West, and her family members Ronald and Franziska Hart (Andrew and George) Doug Hart (David, Matt and Adam), Barbara Hart and James Szummer, will miss her dearly. Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W. (East of the Jane subway) on Friday, July 28, 2017 from 2-4 p.m. & 7-9 p.m. Funeral will be held at St James Cathedral, (65 Church St.) on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 2:00 pm. Reception to follow at the church. In lieu of flowers please donate in Joan's memory to the TSO, St James Cathedral, the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Juravinsky Hospital, Hamilton Ontario. Sincere thanks to the staff of the Juravinsky Hospital for their marvelous care. Online condolences may be made through www.turnerporter.ca

We are so sorry to learn of Joan's passing. We have known Joan for many years as members of the Boulevard Club, where Barb and Joan shared the fun of aquarobics. Joan always had a twinkling smile and a good word for all. We will miss her.

My sincere condolences to Derek and Joan's family on her sudden passing. I knew Joan through the Boulevard Club and I always enjoyed our chats and on those occasions when I drove her to aquafit class when our conversation ranged from travel to proposed buildings in our mutual neighbourhood ( too big and too tall ) . We will all miss her.

On behalf of the Toronto Symphony Volunteer Committee and Toronto Symphony we send our heartfelt condolences to you, Derek, and all the family members. Joan spent the last 11 years volunteering her time raising funds for the TSO and will be deeply missed by all her friends at the Toronto Symphony Volunteer Committee. The last two years as Vice President was greatly appreciated.
Our thoughts are with you at this time,
Members of the T.S.V.C.

Joan and I had similar ideas as Vice Presidents of the Toronto Symphony Volunteer Committee. She worked diligently and was open to my suggestions re committee and fundraising work. She took on many jobs especially this year. I will miss our conversations very much.

Joan's energy seemed boundless, and she pursued her many interests and her jobs with passion. As a friend she was always kind and cheerful.......She died much too young, but she never wasted a minute of the time she had...Rest in peace Joan.
