In Celebration of

Joan Chausse

June 1, 1928 -  July 6, 2018

On Friday, July 6, 2018, one month and five days after celebrating her 90th birthday, our beloved Joan quietly passed away. Born in Reading, England, Joan came to Canada as a war bride after marrying her "Bert” in 1946. During their married life, Joan followed Bert as he made his living working as a chef in many remote mining/lumber camps across Canada before finally settling in Toronto. Staying true to how she lived her life, she was a fighter until the end. Beloved mum of Hazel (John), Suzanne (the late John), Johnny (Keverley), Laura (Keith), Gordie (Wendy), Lillian and Robert (Shelley). Beloved granny to Michael, Shawn, J.J., Marc, Ryan, Lisa, Greg, Terry, Eric, Bernadette, Jaynee, Chantelle, Frankie, Doreen and Danielle and great granny to twenty five. Predeceased by her husband Albert and her infant sons Albert and Harvey and her daughter Louise. She was a sweet lady, loved by many and she will be terribly missed. The family would like to thank the staff at Revera for the many kindnesses shown to Joan during her residence and their care and compassion during the last few weeks of her life. Arrangements are in care of the Turner & Porter Butler Chapel, 416-231-2283. A private interment is planned. If desired, donations may be made in Joan’s memory to Diabetes Canada at www.diabetes.ca. On-line condolences may be made at www.turnerporter.ca.

I will always remember how warmly you and Bert welcomed me into your home some 22 years ago, your bright smile, your incredible strength and spirit and the love you had for your family. I will miss watching you enjoy the simple things in life; like a nice hot cup of tea from Tim Horton's; the way you laughed out loud at funny movies; when you closed your eyes and sang old songs; the way you concentrated so hard when beading your necklaces becoming oblivious to any one else in the room; the things you said that made us laugh and your amazing gravy!!!

May you rest in peace. You will be greatly missed. Love Shelley
