In Celebration of

Jerome "Jerry" Guild

April 21, 1935 -  October 2, 2023

Jerome (Jerry) Guild, on October 2, in his 88th year, very peacefully, at Parkland on The Glen Retirement Home.

Lifelong devoted husband to Jo for 61 years, loving and loved father to Jim (Diana), Chris (LouAnn), and Susan (Liam). “Pappy” was a cherished grandfather to Tom, Maddie, Amy, Kevin, John, Katie, Molly, and Patrick.

Born in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, and raised in nearby Kentville, he graduated from the engineering program at St. Francis Xavier University, “St. F X” in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, and embarked on an engineering career at Bell Canada. Along the way, he was treated for appendicitis by a very special nurse. They married and loved each other for 61 years. His engineering career took the family from Montreal to New Jersey, back to Montreal, and finally to Mississauga where Jerry and Jo raised their three children.

Jerry will be forever missed by family and friends from his career at Bell, and his interests in rock collecting, birding, snooker, puzzles, and drawing.

Thanks to the compassionate staff at Parkland and from Bayshore Medical.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the charity of one’s choice is welcomed.

Jerry and Jo were special residents at Parkland on the Glen. Jerry was so giving of his time and sharing his many interesting collections with us. Although briefly, we were honoured to serve them both. Our condolences to the Guild family at this difficult time.

Jim, Chris, Susan & extended family:

Please accept my sincerest sympathy on the death of your father. We were class mates at St. F.X. and Nova Scotia Tech in engineering and worked together at Bell. My late wife, Jean, and I had many get togethers over the years with Jerry and Jo; all of which were memorable and very enjoyable times. He was a wonderful man and I am sure he will be greatly missed by you, his many friends at Bell and in the community. I will be making a donation in Jerry's memory at the Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation.

My sincere condolences to Susan, Jim, Chris, and their families. I will miss the chats and visits that I had with both Jerry and Jo.
I first heard of Jerry through my children when they were 4 and 6. They referred to Jerry as the "rock man". He would give neighbourhood children information and even sparkling geodes for their projects and Scout badges.
Later, at street parties he was a welcome conversationalist. Still later, he became a source of information about stranded birds that arrived on my verandah.
At the church bridge sessions organized by Jo, Jerry manned the elevator for those who needed it, and supported Jo with set-up. It was fun to play bridge with him.
Whenever I walked past the wrap-around verandah which he had built, Jerry was there, ready for a chat. He is very much missed by me and all who walk past that verandah daily.

Our deepest condolences to the entire Guild Family. We were blessed to have lived across the street from Gerry and Jo for close to 35 years. During that time, many hours were spent laughing and discussing everything from sports to religioun, to business to birding to history to politics and everything in between. Gerry was an exemplary role model who brightened everyone's day with his kindness and wit. May his spirit continue to guide you and comfort you.
