Jennifer “Jenny” Helen Davies (née Steed), aged 79 of Toronto, Canada passed away on March 13, 2026. Jenny died much as she lived, with quiet strength and stalwart grace throughout her difficult battle with Parasupra Nuclear Palsy (PSP), a rare, progressive neurodegenerative Parkinsons type disorder.
Jenny was born on September 29, 1946, to John “Jack” Steed and Hilda Steed (née Hutchings) in Kingston-Upon-Thames near London, England. After graduating from Bogner Regis College of Education, Jenny was a schoolteacher in Worthing, England and later taught in Jamaica and Toronto.
In 1965 Jenny met John Davies at a school dance in Sussex, England, they married in 1970 and went on to share many great adventures together throughout the course of their loving marriage spanning over 55 years. Jenny and John have two daughters Talya (Jeff) and Brianna (Frank) and four grandchildren, Cole, Perle, Paige and Oscar.
Jenny left the UK in 1972 and set off to Kingston, Jamaica where her and John spent two happy years. They then moved on to New York before settling in Toronto Canada, where they spent Jenny’s remaining 50 years, enjoying many happy holidays abroad visiting the Caribbean, Europe, South & Central America, Egypt, New Zealand, the Galapagos, Polynesia, and Asia. Jenny was first and foremost a devoted wife, mother and grandmother but she was also an avid list maker, diligent letter writer, keeper of important dates, lover of dogs, flowers and chocolate. Jenny adored travel and while her British accent quickly revealed her English roots, she was every bit a proud Canadian. Jenny was a woman of service and of faith, a lifelong volunteer, a fiercely competent woman, wholly dependable with an unwavering inclination to do what needed to be done in the moment it needed doing. As one dear old friend fondly remembered her, “Jenny was a good egg and a solid friend”. To her daughters she was an anchor and to John, she was everything.
In 2009 Jenny retired from teaching and spent her time dedicated to the United Church of Canada, reading, gardening, travelling, baking, quilting and enjoying as much time as possible with her family.
Jenny was predeceased by her loving parents and recently by her beloved younger brother Neil Steed. Jenny is survived, greatly missed and deeply loved by John, Talya, Brianna and their families.
