In Celebration of

Jane Belinda Fevrier

October 30, 1931 -  April 7, 2025

With loving memories, our family announces the passing of Jane Belinda Lucain Fevrier on Monday 7th April 2025 in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada at the age of 93. She was the wife of Rev. Joseph Fevrier, the mother of Timothy Fevrier (Shana) and Stephen Fevrier (Ilsa) and the doting grandmother of Nathan and Sankara.

Belinda, as she was commonly known, was born on 30th October 1931 at Leslie Land Road in Castries, Saint Lucia to Mita Emmanuel, a seamstress and housewife, and Mathurine Emanuel, a Road Engineer.

Sister to Una Smith, Ernest Babyboy Smith, Madeleine Lilian Emanuel, Pierreson Alaric Elphege Sonny Boy Emmanuel and Elford Paul Emanuel

She was also the sister of Clara Emanuel; Cassilda Van De Neut; Cecile Cecillia St. Marthe; George Sweetie Samuel Emanuel; Muirel Emanuel; Mary H R Magarite Augustin Straughn; Robert Augustin; Berthalena Rachael Edward Andrew and Trevor Anderson

She attended the Castries Methodist School during the era of Teacher Alex Walcott and then the St. Joseph’s Convent. On completion, she became a teacher at the Convent until 1959 when she emigrated to Toronto Canada.

Before leaving, she and her sister Madeleine Lilian Emanuel, helped her mother Mam to take care and raise her nephews who lived with them - Hughan Smith, Junior Smith, Ronald Smith and Nigel Smith. She loved these boys dearly as she considered them her own.

In Toronto, she worked at PSI - Physicians Services Incorporated, (current day OHIP). She became a Born-Again Christian and was a member of the Jarvis Street Baptist Church. Belinda then attended the TBS Seminary for Theology.

In 1966, she returned to St. Lucia as a Missionary of the Baptist Missions and worked at the First Baptist Church on High Street in Castries. Returning to St. Lucia with her was her friend Sister Beryl Grey, a Jamaican national who worked as a Nurse at Victoria Hospital.

Working as a missionary took Belinda to every corner of the island of St. Lucia, taking care of the needs of both body and the soul . She is remembered for her work in Georgeville, New Village, the Gardens, Bexon, Millet, Marc and Sarrot to name a few - We know where her children got their wanderlust from.

She also travelled extensively during that time - With her daughter Esther Pricila Fevrier in tow, she visited from Curasco to see her brother Babyboy, to Jamaica, up the chain of islands and beyond.

Belinda met Joseph Nelson Bobom Fevrier when she returned to St. Lucia. He too had recently returned from the United Kingdom to become the Pastor at the Grace Baptist Church in Bexon, Castries. It was a pair made in Heaven: Both possessed passion for sharing the Gospel of Christ, a deep and genuine love of people, the desire to help improve their lot, and interested in personal development - both of the young and old.

Jane Belinda’s mother’s first husband was Ernest Smith of Mon Repos ( The son of Jules and Helen Smith, and brother to (among others ) James Dean Smith; Andrea Smith; Yvonne Aunty Von Smith; Legendre Leiger Smith; Civilen Civilian Brice and Thomasin Poleon)

He was the Principle of the RC School in Castries before his untimely death in October 1923. Belinda’s mother would talk about walking from Castries to Mon Repos via Forestiere and the BaraBara, and what life was like in that community. So, God saw it fit to provide Belinda with a husband from that very community.

The two were married on Easter Monday - 12th April 1971.

In 1975, Joseph and Belinda were called to be the Pastor at the First Baptist Church on Darling Road, Castries. They remained there until Joseph’s retirement in 2000.

Shortly after getting married came her first son - Timothy Fevrier in 1972 and then four years later in 1976, her second son Stephen Fevrier. The family lived at Summersdale, Castries which remains their base up to the present day.

The adventure never dulled - which Belinda said, kept her young. Belinda and Joseph instilled in her family a strong sense of what was right and what was wrong. She taught, exemplified and personified integrity - doing the right thing at all times, even when no one is looking.

They taught and made the family believe that anything was possible, that money was not a limiting factor, only self doubt deterred the achievement of any goal.

And above all things, do EVERYTHING to the Glory and Honour of GOD, who, though Christ Jesus, is the Author and Finisher of our faith.

It was drilled into us and we saw over and over again that God provides the resources, strength, and perseverance needed to grow in faith and endure hardship. Ultimately, He will bring our faith to its full realization in the presence of God.

So today, when it is said, ‘trust the process’, Belinda, years ago, believed and taught and instilled in her family, trust GOD in all things.

After retirement Joseph and Belinda took up a second home in Canada - first spending part of the year in each place, then taking up a more permanent residence from 2008 after Belinda had a heart attack and had to get a pacemaker put in.

Belinda spent her life continuously learning and teaching. From Lady’s Dorcus and Groups at church to exploring the world. Soon after the English Channel Tunnel was opened, she and her friends travelled through it from England to France. She enjoyed visiting family in England, visiting her son in Switzerland and Austria. She always said that her most enjoyable and memorable trip with to South Africa in 2017 for her Son’s wedding. The dress that she chose to be buried is the dress from that wedding.

Her husband was her stay, her comfort and her eternal love. They always walked hand in hand. They were always together. Supported each other through thick and thin.

She was known as DARLING. Joseph’s darling, her family’s darling.

Without much notice, with no fanfare, with little more than a whisper, Jane Belinda went to meet her Lord on Monday morning, 7th April 2025.

She loved and she was loved. Unequivocally, wholeheartedly
