In Celebration of

James Smillie

December 20, 1935 -  September 12, 2021

It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Smillie. James passed away peacefully on Sunday September 12, 2021, at the age of 85. Beloved husband of Jessie Smillie for 64 years. Survived by his son Jim (Debbie) and granddaughter Charmain (Ray). He was an aerospace pioneer who was recruited to Canada in 1956 to work on the Avro Arrow in the cockpit. After the program cancellation, he moved to De Havilland Aircraft, Douglas Aircraft and finally McDonnell Douglas where he retired in 1992. James loved playing golf, yearly trips to Florida but above all, his family. A private service will be held for immediate family on Thursday September 16th at the Turner & Porter funeral home in Mississauga. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada
