In Celebration of

James "Jim" William Huchkewich

September 27, 1941 -  September 12, 2019

James (Jim) William Huchkewich passed away peacefully on September 12, 2019 at the age of 77.

Dearly loved by Diane, his devoted wife of 52 years. Beloved father three and grandfather of six. Lisa (Brad) and daughter Kaitlyn, Natalie (Lou) and daughters Sophia and Elizabeth, and Rachel and her children Nicolas, James, and Victoria (their father Marc). Brother to Jeanette [Bruce] and Mary [late Robert(Bob)].

Jim and Diane have been together for 60 years since the time Jim was circling St. Josephs High School and looking through the library windows for Diane as the nuns were closing the blinds. They renewed their wedding vows daily for 52 years.

Jim's life was defined, above all other things, by his dedication and love of family and his dear dogs. His devotion to family extended beyond his wife and children to encircle and care for his mother and father-in-law. He taught all who knew him that family comes first.

He loved all nature and respected all God created. His favourite place was home but he enjoyed going out and walking his dogs as part of his daily routine. Jim loved his dogs Xena and Roxy who without a doubt greeted him warmly at the "Rainbow Bridge" and joined him as he entered Heaven. As always we are certain he had a few treats in his pocket to give them.

His family will greatly miss his powerful words of wisdom and his gentle kindness. He had a unique ability to see clearly through complicated matters and did things in his own time and in his own way. Had a simple, pragmatic philosophy on life that left a lasting impression on everyone he spoke to. Jim had enough knowledge of all history and politics, with a special interest in American history, that he could have created his own Smithsonian.

Even when he didn’t speak his voice could be heard by people who looked into his eyes that were lovingly referred to by many as his “baby blues”.

Jim surrounded himself with family and allowed his presence and those simple moments of time to create huge memories that will forever be etched in all of our hearts.

His straight forward perspective always seemed to provide the right amount of guidance when you needed some advice - he always said what he meant and meant what he said.

Most of all, he left an impression of what a great man is...what a committed parent is...and his family honours and cherishes him, living his memory through his words and actions every day with one another. He is deeply missed, but remains very much in the fibres our hearts, minds and lives.

There will be a visitation on Sunday, September 15th from 2 pm to 5 pm at Turner and Porter Neweduk- Erin Mills Chapel, 1981 Dundas Street West, Mississauga.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, September 16th at 10:30 am at St. Ignatius Loyola Church 2300 Burnhamthorpe Road West, Mississauga.

Prayers and Mass requests for the repose of the soul of Jim would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.
