In Celebration of

James Frederick Stott

July 22, 1929 -  August 1, 2022

Peacefully passed in Mississauga on Monday, August 1, 2022, at the age of 93.

Beloved husband of Marie Julia for over 72 yrs. Adored father of James, Rose Marie, John Patrick, Kevin, Robert, Lisa, and the late Kelly Marie (passed away in infancy). Devoted grandfather of Ryan, Mira, Sean, Lisa, Megan, Jenny, Leah, Courtney, Marco, Jeremy, Willow, Brianna, Ruby and Justin. Adored great-grandfather to James, Lucas, Lara, Melia, Adam, Sophia, Brycen, Brandon, Brayden, Mila, and Mateo. Cherished father/grandfather in-law to Lorri, Maureen, Kimberly, Greg, Angelica, Jonathan and Alfonso. James was predeceased by his father James in 1969, his mother, Elsie Fisher in 1978 and his older brother Norman in 1995.

James was born on July 22, 1929, in New Toronto. He enjoyed a 40-year career as a technician with Northern Telecom and Bell Canada. He had a parallel career as an executive in the sport of canoe-kayak. During his 3 term as Commodore of the Mississauga Canoe Club, he presided over 2 National Championship seasons. He was later awarded a Life Membership by the Canoe Club.

With his many achievements, his focus and love were first and always his family. He dearly loved his beautiful wife Marie and dedicated himself selflessly to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was easy going, reliable, exceedingly well-liked and was a hero to his family. No matter what time of day or night, Grandy (lovingly nicknamed), would wake from one of his many daily naps to help anyone in need. Known for his healthy appetite, love of any food (no matter how long it was in the fridge), the family will carry an abundance of memories of Grandy which will forever bring a smile to our faces. He was a great man and will for certain, not be forgotten.

Visitation for friends and family will be held at the Turner & Porter "Peel" Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga (Hwy 10 N. of Q.E.W) on Friday, August 19, 2022, from 5-8 p.m.

We were deeply saddened to hear of Mr Stott’s passing. He was a wonderful parental figure to Edmund and me growing up in the canoe/kayak community. The Stotts were always generous in opening their home to us “kids” creating a safe haven, or home base, for us to gather. Those are times we will never forget. Our deepest condolences 💐 to Marie and the entire family. 🤍🕊

An incredibly sweet, wise, empathetic , and loyal man. The patriarch of the Stott family who was either deep in thought or about to fall asleep (I was never really sure) A caring guy that didint have a mean bone in his body and we should all aspire to be like.
I have no doubt Grandy is snacking on something in heaven at this very moment. You will be missed Jim ❤️
