Passed away peacefully at home, after a short battle with cancer, in his 70th year. Cherished husband of 50 years to Rose (nee Barci). Dear father of Edward (Loretta), and Stephanie (Robert). Loving Popsy of Emily, Jacob, Jordan, Adrianna and Cameron, who were his pride and joy. Devoted uncle to Josh and Sheena; beloved "Zio Jimmy and Uncle Jimmy" to many extended family members and friends. Also sadly missed by his mother-in-law Concetta Barci, brother-in-law Gino Barci and sister-in-law Darcy VanderVeen. James was a dedicated member of the AA family, whose support has been integral in the lives of many - his legacy felt throughout the GTA. A Butcher by trade, "Big Jim" loved nothing better than enjoying a good meal with family and friends; followed by an evening of watching his favourite fight or movie. The family wishes to thank his nurses, Fethia Tounsi and Gosset Brown for their heartfelt care and compassion in helping to keep James comfortable in his last few days.

Friends and family may call at Turner and Porter - Peel Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St, Mississauga, Sunday August 5th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm and Monday August 6th from 3:00 to 9:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Christopher's Church, 1171 Clarkson Road North, Mississauga, on Tuesday, August 7th at 11:00am. Private cremation ceremony to take place at a later date.
