In Celebration of

Jamie "Jimmer" "Buh" Bookman

March 22, 1990 -  March 9, 2017

Musician. Chef. Stand-up Comic. Raconteur. Philosopher. Cowboy. Artist. Athlete. Faithful and loyal son, brother, and friend.

James Patrick Scott “Jamie” Bookman, known affectionately as “Jimmer” or “Buh”, defied definition. Even collectively, these words cannot capture his spirit or his life; he was a man for all seasons. He left the family home on Thursday for a morning run and collapsed. His departure has created an infinite hole in the fabric of the family that he adored. He reached people far and wide with his roguish charm, his music, humour, and comfort food.

Jamie graduated from St. Michael’s College School where he was a linebacker for the Kerry Blues football team. He attended the University of Guelph where he studied history, music, and the arts, mostly outside of the classroom.

Most of his time was spent on the guitar, which he taught himself how to play. He was a popular musician with the Johnston Brothers and, more recently, Guelph County Line, a country music band.

Jamie is survived by his loving parents, Larry and Kathleen, his sister Katie (Darryl), his brothers Mike and Jeff (Lauren), his uncles Mike, Jim (Noreen), and Gary (Brenda). He is predeceased by his aunt Lolly Propas, his cousin Jordan Propas, his grandmothers Anna Godfrey and Madeline Mullins, and his grandfathers Milton Bookman and Jack Mullins.

He is also survived by The Boys who will forever keep Saturdays for him.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the Turner and Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor Street West, at Windermere east of the Jane subway. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at 11am at Our Lady of Sorrows Roman Catholic Church, 3055 Bloor Street West, Toronto. Interment Park Lawn Cemetery.

In Memoriam donations can be made to the St. Michael’s College School Bursary Fund for students in financial need at www.smcsgive.com. A link will appear in Jamie's name.

Jamie was larger than life. I'll never forget how he was always front and center at every single Exide gig, cheering us on at every step, or how he reinvented himself as a musician to play country music.

His energy will be missed.

So terribly sorry for your loss. Jamie would help take care of theatre rentals for us, and I would see him in the hallways and staff room of the school during the summers, always joking, smiling and laughing and making others smile and laugh.

I met Jamie at one of Kathy and Larry's Christmas parties, and would have nominated him as a "Life of the Party", eager to assemble an entourage for the singing of carols. He was indeed a big lover of life, music, family and friends. Wish I had known Jamie better. The world could certainly benefit from many more people like him.

Jaime was always full of spirits and Energy, always laughing and making us smile. I had many great memories of him visiting Ireland and remember our times when we road-tripped from Toronto to Guelph. I'll always remember his phrase > Saturday's are for the Boys. He'll be in our hearts and prayers. God bless his soul, and may he Rest In Peace. Forever in our memories J Books.
