It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our family patriarch, Jack Milton Thom at the age of 96. Jack was predeceased by his parents John and Helen. He was the father of Gordon (predeceased), Carolyn (Gerry), Marlene (John-predeceased), and Douglas as well as the grandfather of Andrew Ignaciuk and Jack McGloin. He was the brother of Ron Thom (Lis).
Jack was born in Windsor and moved to Etobicoke in 1939. He met the love of his life and future wife, Shirley Lumsden (predeceased), in 1953. They were married in 1955 and devoted their lives to each other for over 66 years. Jack and Shirley bought their Etobicoke bungalow in 1956 and lived in it ever since. Dad was a car enthusiast and a huge hockey fan. He was a fantastic storyteller who always had a crowd laughing. Jack was proud of his country and community but especially his family. He was our greatest champion and was always encouraging and supportive. He will live in our hearts forever and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
The Thom family would like to express our gratitude to both Mississauga Hospital and The McCall Centre for the wonderful care they gave to Dad during his recent illness.
