Ivan Aleksandar Ziger

December 27, 1931 -  February 24, 2018

Following an 11 year long ordeal with Alzheimer’s, Ivan passed away peacefully at Toronto Western Hospital with his wife Lidia (nee Toffetti) at his side. A father to sons Boris (wife Kelly) and Robert (wife Linda) and, grandfather to Katerina, Christian, Isabel and Michael, he will be greatly missed. Ivan was a graduate of the University of Zagreb, School of Engineering and continued his studies in Cardiff, Wales before settling in France. Ivan spent much his 20’s travelling through Britain and France. A brilliant soccer player, Ivan played for the Citroёn owned soccer team in Saint-Germaine and kept his amateur status, as he technically worked in the automaker’s engineering department. Forced to leave his beloved Paris due to 1950’s immigration laws he settled in Melbourne, Australia and met his future wife and began a family. Always on the move, Ivan relocated his family to Toronto, Canada where he found his place and has remained ever since. Family and friends will be received at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor Street West, Toronto ON, M6S 1P4 (east of Jane St.) on Tuesday, February 27th from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady Queen of Croatia Church, 7 Croatia Street, Toronto, ON M6H 1K8, on Wednesday, February 28th at 9 a.m. Interment Park Lawn Cemetery.
