In Celebration of

Ian McLauchlan

September 20, 1989 - June 9, 2025

We are saddened to announce the unexpected death of Ian McLauchlan on June 9, 2025.

Born in Oakville, Ian graduated from Abbey Park High School and went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts, Honours Law, Minor History from Carleton University. He then returned to Oakville and while working at the Home Depot he attended Mohawk College, graduating with a Diploma in Co-op Computer Systems Technician-Network Systems. After graduation he secured a contract position in the Halton District School Board and then moved to a full-time position at BWXT in Oakville as IT Support.

Ian suffered from epilepsy for most of his life, but it didn’t stop him from pursuing many activities such as soccer, canoeing, fishing and boating. He enjoyed computer games and reading and he recently started to learn Korean. His taste in music crossed many genres from classical to hardstyle to metal. He had a knack for remembering things and always amazed us by recalling details about books, movies and shows, even years later.

He is survived by his parents, Don and Sandra, and his sister, Cynthia Zhou and her husband and daughter, as well as an aunt and uncle (Barb and Glen) and two cousins (Margot and Tegan).

We will remember Ian as an easygoing, likeable guy with a dry sense of humour, and recall him fondly as a loving uncle.

We will always cherish our memories of Ian and would very much appreciate people posting their own memories and stories of him and upload photos or videos. We encourage others to peruse the memories shared by others in the Guestbook.

If anyone wishes to make a donation in Ian’s name, Epilepsy Ontario or Epilepsy Toronto are possibilities that would have appealed to Ian. No funeral service will be held. Cremation has taken place, and a private celebration of life will occur at a later date.
