In Celebration of

Ian "Arch" Kincaid

August 12, 1931 -  April 6, 2017

The world has lost a great spokesman and a true advocate for living life to its fullest.
Ian left us peacefully on April 6, 2017, after a good meal, a glass of wine and the first round of the Masters. Perfect.
Born August 12, 1931, in Belleville Ontario, Ian leaves behind his loving family: son David (Janet) and daughter Barbara (Randy Burkhardt) and his beloved grandchildren, Sarah, Alyson, Scott and Mackenzie. He also turns a page and begins a new chapter, rejoining his wives who predeceased him, Doreen and Suzanne.
After growing up in Prescott, Ontario, Ian was a proud graduate of Queens University, where he achieved his Masters in Industrial Relations. Coupling this with his natural gift for understanding and communicating with people, he exceled in personnel and labour negotiations with leaders in the field such as Brewers Warehousing, Kawneer and Dominion Dairies (Sealtest), before taking on several senior management roles with Standard Brands and Spencer Stuart.
He finished his illustrious career by starting his own executive search firm and working with clients and friends he chose because “they always taught me something”.
Dad will miss his loves and passions in life – golf, fishing and boating, after spending years as a member of Beach Grove (Windsor) and Lambton (Toronto) Golf Clubs, and captaining his vessels on the St. Lawrence River and Georgian Bay. He truly was a large life well lived.
A Celebration of Ian’s Life will take place at Turner and Porter Butler Chapel, 4933 Dundas St. W., Etobicoke, (between Islington and Kipling Aves.), on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, from 2 – 4 pm. Anyone whose life was touched by “Arch” is invited.
At Ian’s request, there will be no Service. Cremation has taken place. A private family interment at the Blue Church (Prescott), will follow in July.
In lieu of flowers, if you wish, please consider a donation to the St. Joseph’s Health Centre; countless doctors and staff provided Ian with friendship and support in his final days. Online condolences may be made using this website.

Dear David, Barb & families... Our heartfelt sympathies in the loss of your beloved Dad/Grandpa. Ian was indeed a large life, very well lived. He'll be remembered in our house for his class, charm and generosity of spirit. His pride in and love for in his family was ever evident; he counted his many blessings, despite the challenges that crossed his path (and those beloved by him). We'll continue to think of him often and well. May he rest in peace. xo Larry, Paula & family

Barb, David and families, I'm so sorry for your loss. Our loss. He had such a presence in my life. Doreen and Suzanne too. I clearly remember our times as kids in Toronto, Windsor, Detroit and Beaconsfield playing and patiently waiting for his football games to end so he could play with us. And he was such a good story teller! And a great hugger. I wished then that if I had two dads, he could have been one of them - ok maybe three, along with Dick Van Dyke :) I was blessed that he was my godfather. Love to his everlasting spirit and to you, my godsiblings. Big love Barb and David. You are in my thoughts.

So terribly sad. What a terrific man I remember. Such fun family get togethers we had ..ie vacations to Mr Warchucks cottage. Arch and dad would shout at the tv for hours as the football games ran on. Very fortunate to have spoken to him not that long ago, a voice I will always remember.

I met Arcch at Dominion Dairies in 1967. We had the pleasure of working together for over three years and I came to really admire his expertise in labour negotiations and strategy during a strike at Dominion Dairies.

We have kept in touch over the years primarily through Charlie Scott's excellent networking ability to keep people together.

He will be missed by me and his numerous friends.
