Iain Leithead

July 8, 1947 -  March 3, 2026


It is with deep sadness and much love that we announce the passing of Iain Leithead on March 3, 2026, at the age of 78.

Iain was the devoted husband of the late Cindy Holovac Leithead and a proud and loving father to Tara, Suzanne, and the late Gregor Leithead. He was also a loving grandfather to Thea & Reagan Weaver and Ben & Abby Leithead. He will be remembered for his kindness, strength, and the deep love he had for his family. Iain will be deeply missed by all who knew him and whose lives he touched. He will now rest peacefully beside his beloved wife of 29 years, Cindy, who passed away in late 2024.

Friends and family may join us at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., on Saturday, March 21, 2026 from 10 a.m - 12 p.m for a Memorial Service to honour our beloved father Iain. There will be a visitation hour from 10 a.m - 11 a.m and then a small service from 11 a.m - 12 p.m. Please note that parking is limited. The service will be live-streamed.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. Their innovative treatment and care helped to give our father good years and a good quality of life.

Iain’s family welcomes and appreciates any memories, stories, or messages of sympathy and condolence shared in remembrance of him.

Iain was an amazing person to know and to work under. He was always very good to me and treated me fairly and with respect. I had the opportunity to have an unexpected conversation with him on a flight to Scotland when our pipe band was going over to compete and we had a great talk and some good laughs over memories. Sorry, I cant make funeral but my sincere condolences to all family and friends. May God Speed !!

Dear Tara & Suzanne,

Please accept my/our sincere heartfelt condolences to you, your families, and friends of your dad.

Your dad (Iain) was a dear friend, the epitome of the true gentleman and colleague.

I was shocked and saddened to learn of his passing and I am truly sorry that we didn’t have the opportunity to say good bye!

I had the distinct pleasure of working with him. We kept in touch and we would reminisce, sharing positive memories etc., and how time had flown … “time and tide wait for no man.”

Like me, he was proud of his Scottish heritage and may have said, ’if not for Scotland, there would be no Nessie.'

May the many good memories of the different facets of your dad give you comfort and strength as time passes!

Know that the thoughts of many are with you at this time of sorrow. May the good memories you shared come to overshadow your grief.

His earthly journey is now complete and he has gone to the Grand Lodge above, his Mansion ready.
