In Celebration of

Hugh Watson

November 14, 1926 -  March 28, 2017

Hugh S. Watson, born in London, England, on November 14th, 1926 to Lt.-Col. Julian Watson of England and Enid Smith of Bermuda died peacefully at home, surrounded by his three daughters, Julia, Anna, and Fiona on March 28th, 2017. He is also survived by his three grandchildren: Caley, who lived with and cared for her grandfather for his last 8 months, Shelby, who lives in British Columbia, and Chase, who lives in Virginia. Hugh graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering from Bristol University, UK. He immigrated to Canada in 1952 where he worked for Montreal Engineering, later Monenco. Hugh met and fell in love with Mary-Jean Morgan of Westmount, daughter of Ivy Senkler and Dr. George Morgan. They married in 1955 and remained happily side-by-side until Mary-Jean’s death in 2006. Hugh worked as a Project Manager on numerous innovative projects which provided him with the opportunity to travel around the world. He was an engaging storyteller, an avid sailor, and a talented woodworker and gardener - his extensive gardens in Lexington, Virginia will keep on blooming well into the future. A celebration of Hugh’s life will be held on May 6th, 2017, when the magnolia tree he planted for Mary-Jean is in full blossom. More information will be posted at http://turnerporter.permavita.com/site/HughWatson.html . In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Huntington’s Society at www.huntingtonsociety.ca

Seeing Hugh's obituary brought back memories of a lovely, gracious and gentle gentleman. I'm sure he will be missed indeed!
