After a brief illness, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at the age of 93 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Patricia. His sister Anne Burchat and nephews Reverend Paul, Peter and John and sister in law Wanda Lastuk. Hugh was born in New Toronto on July 5, 1932. He graduated from University of Toronto, St. Michael’s College. He got his high school teaching certificate at the Ontario College of Education and taught for many years at local high schools.
Hugh loved travel, reading and holidays in Muskoka area. After retiring in 1991, he worked as a volunteer for Right to Life Association of Mississauga and area for many years.
Friends will be received at Turner & Porter, Peel Chapel (2180 Hurontario Street, Mississauga) on Monday, January 26, 2026 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Funeral Mass at St. Mary Star of the Sea (11 Peter Street, South, Mississauga) on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at 11am. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Port Credit.
