Hilda (Ruth) Huff, aged 93, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026, in Toronto, Ontario.
Born on August 8, 1933, in Toronto to Charlie and Constance Tizzard, Ruth grew up as the youngest of seven siblings, surrounded by a large and loving extended family.
In the early 1960s, Ruth found herself in British Columbia, where she met Lloyd Huff. The two later married in Toronto before returning to British Columbia and making their home in Cranbrook for several years.
Ruth’s administrative talents served her well throughout her career. She was the founder of Ruth Huff Wedding Planning, worked as a secretary at the Holiday Inn, and later as a human resources consultant at the Westin Harbour Castle before settling into her chosen career as a real estate agent.
The daughter of a farmer, Ruth loved gardening. Her greatest joy, however, was spending time with the children in her extended family — taking them on day trips to the waterfront, forest walks, and the Santa Claus Parade.
She is lovingly remembered by her son Kenneth and her grandchildren Violet and Matthew.
A private celebration of life will take place later in the year.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
