In Celebration of

Henry E. "Ed" Guertin

October 2, 1928 -  August 16, 2018

(1928-2018)
It is with sorrow that we announce that Ed passed away peacefully on August 16, 2018 in his 90th year after a lengthy illness. Beloved husband of 65 years to Bernice (née Manison) and son of the late Henry E. and Muriel (née Park) Guertin. Survived by his brother John “Bud” Guertin (Jill) and sister Carol Kaltenböck. Devoted father to John (Irene), Nancy (Nick), and Carolyn (Katherine). Will be missed by granddaughters Elizabeth (Ross) and Sarah Quinn, and by nieces and nephews. A lover of music, languages, and the great outdoors, he animated every room he entered. We are grateful for the support of Rev. Rebekah Mitchell, the community at Centennial Park Place, and for the excellent care he received from the William Osler Health System. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 20 from 12:00 noon, followed by the memorial service at 1:00 at Turner & Porter Butler Chapel, 4933 Dundas St. W., Etobicoke. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Graceview Presbyterian Church, the Canadian Wildlife Federation, or a charity of your choice.

I was saddened to hear of the death of the man I knew from infancy as 'Uncle' Eddie. I always knew Uncle Eddie as a cheerful man, a good family man, who was so proud of his children and wife 'Auntie' Bernie. I have a photo somewhere, of me as a toddler sitting on his lap at the piano as he held my hands over the keys to play chopsticks. I have many photos of both our families together, but Uncle Eddie was almost always the man behind the camera, not in front of it. I hadn't seen him in years as our families went in different directions, but I always had a soft spot in my heart for Uncle Eddie.
My deepest sympathies to Aunt Bernie, John, Nancy and Carolyn and their respective families. With many loving thoughts, Liz Gray Thomas

Dear Nancy, my heart goes out to you and your family. The loss of a parent is a huge one - a sadness that leaves a hole in our heart that always remains - the BLESSING is that we had our parent for so long to love when leaves us with a lifetime of memories, love and laughter and happy times spent with them to remember. Please know I am thinking of you and sending you love.

My deepest condolences on the loss of your Father, John and Family. I have fond memories of your father's smile when I would visit the house to spend time writing with John in our high school days. He will be dearly missed by all. Keep your Memories with you always. My deepest sympathies to your Mom. May God give her and all of you all the strength and love you need through all this.
