It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Henrika “Rick” Gerarda VANDEVALK (nee van den Heuvel) December 30th, 1934 to December 7th, 2025. Predeceased by the love of her life, her husband Jan ‘John’ VANDEVALK, parents Antonia & Martin, brother’s Pieter (Annette), Martin, Cornelius ‘Cor’, Henricus ‘Henry’, & sister Arnolda ‘Nolda’. Survived by sister’s Wilhelmina ‘Mien’, Antonia ‘Toni’ (Bert), & Sister-in Law’s Nellie, Kathryn & step-brother Gerry (Dini).

Loving mother of Gerry (Jennie), John (Kim), Bob (Lena), Tom (Hélène).

Fondly remembered Oma of Tina (Mike), Amy, Tabitha (Adam), Ryan (Krista), Samantha (Chris), Matthew (Emily), Shane (Jordan), Allysia, Victoria, Phillip. Over-oma of Lucas, Parker, Austin, Morgan, Jaxon, Emma, Olivia, Owen.

Rick was born in Erp in the Netherlands. She came to Canada with her family in April of 1950 at the age of 15 on the ship Volendam. She helped out on the family farm and worked in Oakville as a talented seamstress until her marriage in December 29, 1956. While raising 4 sons she did the accounting for her husband’s business. She was an avid cook, gardener and card player and still was playing euchre at her home in Hillside Place until shortly before her passing.

Visitation to be held at Turner & Porter Neweduk-Erin Mills Chapel @ 1981 Dundas St. West Mississauga ON, on Wednesday, December 17th, 2025, from 5–8 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Christopher's Roman Catholic Church @ 1171 Clarkson Rd N, Mississauga Thursday, December 18, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. Cremation to follow.
