Born on December 17, 1933, in Toronto, Ontario, Helen was the daughter of Frances and Stanley Bobinski. She attended Western Commerce High School in Toronto and went on to become a legal secretary and, when her children were older, worked as a school secretary, a job she absolutely adored.
Helen was predeceased by her beloved husband of 63 years, John "Jack" Kelly. Together they built a life filled with love and shared experiences that spanned decades. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Jenny Nihda and Diane Tweedie.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Donna Kelly and son-in-law, Bradley Maybee of Guelph, Ontario; her son, David Kelly and daughter-in-law, Ann Kelly of Nashville, Tennessee. Helen was a devoted grandmother to Thao Kelly-Maybee, David Ryan Kelly (Alanna Cadwallader), Isabella Kelly, Charlotte Kelly, and Matthew Kelly. Her legacy continues through her great-grandson, Bowie Cadwallader-Kelly. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Kelly.
Helen lived a full and vibrant life. She had a passion for travel and explored many parts of the world. A lover of good company and fine food, she was well known for her fondness for dining out at restaurants. She was an amateur artist, an expert seamstress, with an encyclopedic knowledge of design and fabric, and a wonderful gardener. An avid card player, Helen especially enjoyed bridge and gin rummy. In later years, she cherished time spent with family and friends above all else. Her warmth and generosity touched everyone who knew her.
