In Celebration of

Halina Garczynski

January 3, 1929 -  August 25, 2016

Our loving mother passed away on Thursday, August 25th, 2016. She is survived by her children Jolanta (Adam Grzeslo), Mark, Barbara (Jim Kattis), grandchildren, great grandchildren and niece and nephew and their families. Halina was born in Lodz, Poland. She and her family survived the Second World War and emigrated to Canada. With the support of that family, Halina raised her three children as a single mother. A determined woman, she put herself through school and began a successful career spanning over thirty years at St. Stanislaus Parish Credit Union. Our mother remained a caring, compassionate woman even as her Alzheimer's progressed. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and had a unique gift with little ones. We would like to thank the staff at Copernicus Lodge for the wonderful care and support they provided for this special woman. Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., at Windermere, east of the Jane subway, on Sunday, from 3-9 p.m. Rosary prayers at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Casimir’s Church, 156 Roncesvalles Ave, Toronto, on Monday, August 29, 2016, at 11 a.m. For those who wish, please consider a donation to Copernicus Lodge, Toronto.
