DECEMBER 16, 1946 – MAY 29, 2023
We are heartbroken to announce the sudden passing of Gregory Brian Bartlett on Monday, May 29, 2023.
Beloved husband of Gloria (nee Garbutt) for 53 years. Doggie dad to Cymru “Cym”. Forever cherished by sister Heather Bartlett (Jon), cousins Jane Freeman, Janet Duncan, Gordon Daw (deceased). Brother-in-law to Richard Garbutt (Annie), Beloved uncle to John Garbutt (Sara), Gregory Garbutt (Sarah), Great uncle to Olivia, Jack and Tristan. Predeceased by his parents William & May Bartlett. Son-in-law to Margaret “Taffy” & Jack Garbutt (both deceased).
For those who knew him, Brian truly had a kind, giving and joyful heart. He took pride in helping others no matter what the task and received great joy in making people laugh and never was without a laugh himself. Brian enjoyed the special comradery and endless conversations over a beer or two with his buddies at the local pub.
He grew up in Applewood Acres and loved the outdoors and nature immensely. As a young boy he enjoyed summers at Killbear Provincial Park, visits to Bartlett Lodge, Algonquin Park, and the thrill of many fishing adventures with his Dad to Northern Ontario and wild fly-in fishing trips to the interior of British Columbia.
After graduating from Ryerson Brian was grateful to have had the opportunity of travelling the world extensively during his many successful and rewarding years with Sears and Pro Quality.
His true love was being at his cottage on Kawagama Lake, Haliburton. A cold beer and a fishing rod were never too far away hoping to catch the big one. Fun times were treasured with special cottage friends at the lake the Harvie’s, Clark’s Boyd’s and Hill’s.
A special acknowledgement of gratitude to the First Responders, Paramedics, Dr. Stephan Tiu, Dr. Chris McColl and the amazing nurses at Trillium Health Centre Emergency. A special thank you as well to Dr. Ansari, Dixie Medical Centre.
Heartfelt thanks to our wonderful friends, neighbours and family for their outpouring of love, kindness and support.
In keeping with Brian’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life to remember Brian in happiness not sadness will be held at a later date. Fondly remembered by many true friends Brian will forever be in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers if desired a donation to the charity of your choice would be most appreciated. Condolences for the family may be offered by signing the online guestbook.
