In Celebration of

Gordon Michael Fliss

April 24, 1943 -  January 20, 2023

Peacefully, on Friday, January 20, 2023, at Cawthra Gardens, Mississauga, in his 79th year. Loving father of Catherine (Darryl) and Robert (Bob) (Susana). Devoted grandfather of Emily, Tyler, Gabriel and Samuel. Predeceased by brother Ronald, father Michael and mother Mary. Fondly remembered by family and friends. Gord grew up in Winnipeg and moved to Toronto in 1973. Throughout his life, he loved woodworking, and crafted the table and dry sink that furnished his dining room, as well as many other projects for family and friends. Following an over 30 year career at Federated Customs Brokers, where he retired as Vice President of Finance, he kept busy and active playing squash, racquetball and tennis regularly. He enjoyed investing and tracking the stock market. He also had a green thumb, with a large collection of plants he tended to in his home. Although a stroke in 2010 altered his life profoundly, he was always a very proud and determined man, and fiercely valued his independence.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter "Peel" Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga (Hwy 10 N. of Q.E.W) on Saturday, February 4, 2023 from 2 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life Service in the Chapel at 3 p.m. A service for Gordon's final place of rest will take place in Winnipeg at a later date.

For those who wish, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada

It is a hard time to lose a Father and Grandfather. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the family. Remembering Gord Stories of riding his tricycle from his home to Auntie Helen's when just a youngster on the streets of Winnipeg. He was a adventurer and determined at a young age. These traits were with him throughout his life. If you needed something just as Gord he would help if he could. God Bless you Gord for all the good you did for others including us.l

Gord & I were best friends from the time we first met in 1963 when we worked for the same accounting firm. There were lots of laughs and fun usually involving sports and the occasional beer!!
So many great times we shared and one disappointing time that we discussed and laughed/cried about often. -we were very good Shuffleboard Players and as a Team we lost in the final of the Manitoba Championship after being up 12-2 in the final game - Shuffleboard at the time was a pretty big deal in the Pubs and the Annual Championship was in the Grey Cup city, which was Montreal when we came so close..
Our sincerest condolences to Catherine & Bob and their families.
