In Celebration of

Glenna Marie Keenan

November 28, 1935 -  March 15, 2023

Honouring our Mother, on her birthday, the first without her presence, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Glenna Marie Keenan (nee Hart). Glenna passed away peacefully this past spring. She is predeceased by her husband, Donald Robert Keenan. Glenna is survived by her brother, Roger Hart (Cynthia Rowden); her children, Craig (Tina), Glenn and Meredith; her beloved grandchildren Joshua, Christopher, Jordan and Montana; and her great grandchildren Arie, Raya and a child to be named later. The family dogs, Hershey, Chester, Turbo and Lindy are also saddened by their loss. Glenna was also very proud to be part of a loving and supportive extended Keenan family where she was known and cherished as a sister in-law and aunt!

Born in Toronto, Glenna grew up in the west end. She attended Etobicoke Collegiate and graduated from the University of Toronto. We always enjoy looking at the pictures of her early modelling jobs, competitive figure skating and other sports she enjoyed. She enjoyed travelling and managed to navigate Europe with three young children in tow during the time we lived there. She enjoyed her time as a French supply teacher when we returned to Toronto. Most of all, she enjoyed being a mom and Granny and she will be missed dearly. Many have reminded us of how much they remember and will miss her boisterous laugh.

Glenna did not want a big send off, so we held a small family service. She was laid to rest at Mount Hope Catholic Cemetery in Toronto. She most wanted everyone to celebrate her life and the time spent together. Cheers Mom!

Your thoughts and prayers are always welcome. Any donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in her name.

I met Glenna when I was eight years old, we lived two houses from each other, then across the road, the Harts moved, I remember how we used to put on plays in her garage, Rodge was younger but a nice lad...then the Harts rented a cottage on Nottawaga Beach near our cottage and we had many good times together there in our teen aged years...then Glenna and I again were neighbours though several streets away, our children went to Buttonwood Public School...and Glenna and I were part of the Etobicoke 'Tarts' group of ladies who had gone to the collegiate. So many memories...and now, to Rodger, and to Meredith a childhood friend of my daughter Karen Small, a lovely tribute to your sister and mother. Glenna will always be part of my childhood memories on Dunedin Drive, in what was then Toronto 18.

Sincere condolences to Craig, Glenn and Meredith and the family. Our family lived next door to the Keenans for many years in Etobicoke and we were all saddened to learn of Glenna's passing. We remember her beautiful smile, vivacious nature and contagious laugh. She was always up for fun and we have very fond memories of those days. May she rest in eternal peace.
