It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Giovanni Pasquale Rinaldi on April 22, 2023 at the age of 89 at the McCall Centre for Continuing Care.

He leaves behind his wife Maria Amalia of 61 years. He will be dearly missed by his sons Renzo (Silvia) and John (Elizabeth) and grandchildren Alexander, Catherine, Laura, Paul and Melissa. Dearly loved by his brother Ugo (Palma). Predeceased by his sisters Leda (the late Vito) and Linda (Pietro). He was loved by many nieces and nephews, cousins and close friends both in Canada and in Italy.

Giovanni arrived in Canada with his father in April 1959 at the Port of Montreal and shortly after settling in Cooksville, Ontario. In October 1960, his mother and siblings also arrived in Canada through Montreal and joined the family in Cooksville. He met his wife Maria and was soon wed in January 1962. Over the years he developed and shared a passion for music, particularly playing the accordion at many Italian cultural events as well as crafting violins in the basement of his home. He was very happy to have been blessed to see his children marry and the arrival of his grandchildren. He shared many fond memories with his family and friends.

Many thanks to the doctors and nurses who looked after him during the last many months at Trillium Hospital and more recently at the McCall Centre for Continuing Care, as well as the personal support workers from both CarePartners and Home Instead.
