In Celebration of

Gil Kanitz

July 10, 1943 -  June 26, 2017

Our beloved Gil’s soul now graces the woods, lakes and gardens of the natural universe. His love for his wife, Susan, and daughters Hilary Giles (Shelly) and Gillian Raymond (Mitch) was boundless. He was over the moon for his grandchildren Maya and Jack Raymond and Elle and Ethan Giles. Gil was a loyal, trusted friend and colleague. What a wonderful world we lived with our Gil. Our lives are enriched for the love and friendship he brought to us all. A Funeral Service will be held at St. Peter’s Anglican Church - Erindale, 3041 Mississauga Rd., Mississauga, on Friday June 30, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. Reception to follow. Instead of flowers, Gil would have preferred donations to the SickKids Foundation or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

Susan, Gillian, Hilary and families - I am so sorry for your loss and saddened by this news. Having overcome any number of health challenges, Gil convinced me that he was invincible. I can't imagine this world without him. My thoughts are with all of you.

Ah Susan, Hilary and Gillian and grandchildren our hearts go out to you. Gil was a pillar of the Raven Lake community and a terrific friend (especially to Mary and Dave who are probably holding a big party for him now). He so clearly loved his family and doted on his grandchildren. We remember his sense of humour and his tireless work at the cottage. We will miss him. We were privileged to call him friend.

I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Kanitz's passing. I know this is a very sad and difficult time for your family. You have my very deepest sympathy.

I am so sorry for your loss. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to hang out with your Dad and family over several Thanksgiving and Easter dinners. We had some great conversations. My thoughts are with you.

Gil was such a kind soul. We never had enough time to spend with him and the family... always planned 'to get together soon'. He will be missed but not forgotten. Lots of love to Susi and family.
