In Celebration of
Gertrude "Trudy" Margaret Wolfe
August 31, 1932 -
September 6, 2019
It is with profound sadness we announce Trudy's passing on Friday, September 6, 2019 in Toronto, at 87 years. Trudy was the daughter of Julius and Margaret Chink.
Beloved and devoted life partner of Robert “Bob” for 62 years. Proud and loving mother of Robert, Julie Ann (Michael) and David. Wonderful grandmother to Carl (Carrie), Alan (Ewa), Elizabeth and Jonathan and great-grandmother to Aniela, Colton, Cody, Kasper and Cassidee. Dear sister of Alfred (d.2016) and his wife Norma, and loving Aunt and devoted Godmother to many. Trudy’s joy was her family and she loved having everyone together. Trudy is missed by relatives in Chicago, Cleveland and Germany.
Trudy nurtured a treasury of friendships that included her best friend from high school Audrey (d.2018), wonderful neighbours, and she felt blessed to be part of a ‘sisterhood’ of women in the Lutheran Church who with their spouses and families became her life-long friends.
A natural-born teacher, over 4 decades Trudy held various positions with the TDSB and taught ESL to hundreds of new Canadians. Selfless and generous with time to volunteer, helping others was Trudy’s passion – she was ‘caring to the core’.
The family appreciates the help of family friend Bernie, and extends heartfelt thanks to the many ladies from The Ontario March of Dimes Supports for Daily Living for excellent daily personal care visits; and to the caregivers who lived in and assured Trudy & Bob’s care over 5 years – ‘angels’ Gemma, Nishu, Gigi, Tina, Jane, Ruth, Beth, Remy and our dear Jocelyn who administered comfort and love to Trudy through her last days. Trudy was grateful for the compassionate care she received from Dr. Mavrogiannis and staff from The Dorothy Ley Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, we know Trudy would be delighted about donations to a charity important to you, or just making time to reach out to someone you know who needs support.
