In Celebration of

Geraldine Jeanes

October 30, 1929 -  July 14, 2020

With heavy hearts we announce the passing, at the age of 90, of our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother on Tuesday July 14, 2020. Geraldine, better known as ‘Stewie’ to family and friends, leaves behind her children: JoAnne (Bill McAuley), Patricia (Bodhan Humeniuk), Michael (Sheeran Rush), Michelle (Al Thomson), Nancy (Bill Robinson), Norah (Tim Tapley), and Kim (Ron Hale). Proud grandmother of Sean and Danielle McAuley, Kristy Robbins, Robert and Daniel Humeniuk, Bridget and Patrick Jeanes, Neil, Mathew and Kelly Robinson, Nicole Minett, Meghan and Shelby Tapley, Michael, Patrick, Ryan and Daniel Hale. Great grandmother of Zachary, Marcus, Ethan, Aidan and Keira Humeniuk, Michael Robbins, Sophia, Charlie, Harry and Freyja Minett, Marcus, Maximus, Jackson, Kesler and Ryerson Hale.

Stewie was born on October 30, 1929, daughter of Julia and James Barrett. She is survived by her sister Clare Muccilli and predeceased by siblings Kevin Barrett, Mary Kinley, Norah Collins, Helen Aylsworth, Brendan and Vincent Barrett.

Stewie took great pride in her Irish heritage and immersed herself in family genealogy. Anchored in her Catholic faith, Stewie saw her family and friends as blessings. Her home was a place of welcome to all who came to her door. In recent years she faced her declining health with good humour and fortitude. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She leaves a legacy of laughter and love. We will carry her in our hearts and strive to live our lives following her example.

We wish to acknowledge and thank the professionals at Trillium Health Partners, CCAC Mississauga, Links2Care and all others that provided exceptional patient care to our mother.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Trillium Health Partners, the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice.

To Aunt Stewie's family,
We were so sad to hear about Aunt Stewie's passing, all of you are in our thoughts at this very sad time. I can't tell you how much I admired your Mom, her outlook on life was so amazing to me. I remember when Aunt Stewie came to visit my Mom at my house how much I looked forward to her visits. I could listen to her for hours, telling me about our family history. Such a great person, we will miss her! Love Debbie and Rolf

Aunt Stew was a wonderful person, always so happy and boisterous. Although we didn't see each other much, she was always so welcoming. Her infectious laugh and beautiful spirit will be remembered always! Grandma Helen, and all of those who passed before her, no doubt welcomed her at the pearly gates with open arms!
Our condolences to the entire family.
