Passed away peacefully, with his family by his side at Trillium Health Partners - Credit Valley Hospital on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at the age of 63.
Gerry was born in Kitchener to parents Arthur and Betty. After high school, Gerry began his 40 plus career in funeral and grief services at Turner & Porter Funeral Directors Ltd. where he served the Etobicoke and Mississauga communities with compassion and dedication.
Gerry will be remembered as a man who prioritized family. He is survived by his mother, Betty, his brother Bill (Anne), his sister Sue (Arnie) Gaunt, and nephews Justin (Hannah) and Nate (Carey).
Always dapper, Gerry loved music, dancing, travelling with his late partner Joe McSorley, fine dining, going to the cottage and socializing with friends.
His gentle, kind and humorous demeanour was infectious.
To quote Maya Angelou “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” Gerry exemplified this sentiment and applied it to everyone that he met.
Visitation will be held at Turner & Porter Peel Chapel (2180 Hurontario Street), Mississauga, on Saturday, March 21, 2026 from 10 a.m. until time of Celebration of Life at 11 a.m.
