My sincerest sympathy. Our grandfathers were brothers,Malcolm McLay. I can remember my Mom, Flora speaking about your Mom.
Condolences from the Wheatley family in Victoria, B.C.
The family used to come to the farm at Barvas outside of Yorkton , for a summer holiday visit. The girls were my age. My Dad Malcolm and Uncle Dan were brothers. It was always a good time for us to explore things around the farm.
Had not seen Elaine for years--till I visited Christopher in Toronto-- They were always
good at keeping me up to date with family.
I hope you will keep in touch--Christopher and Kim have bought a home close to where I am living--Good to watch the grandchildren grow They are now 10 & 13.
--once travel moves again -- maybe you will come out to the Island -- you are welcome anytime.

My deepest sympathies to the whole family and most especially to my dear friend, Doreen! What a hard couple of months for you all! And especially hard for Elaine. My first contact with her was way back in 1975! Doreen shared the Christmas baking her mother sent to our university residence, including the pink, white and green rainbow coconut squares! Over the years I experienced such a warm welcome whenever I came to visit and have fond memories of "leftsa" (lefse) and delicious roast beef dinners, complete with Yorkshire pudding. Elaine's sincere kindness and concern always meant so much to me. These last weeks she has had a deep longing to be "home". Though we grieve her loss to us, we know that she is indeed truly Home with her Lord and Saviour, rejoicing with all the saints, including her husband of so many years, Fred. (I loved the fact that they still held hands.) As Doreen said in a message to me, "Rest in peace, Mom, and rise in glory".
I will miss Elaine and Fred. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy to all in her family.
Sending love, thoughts and pray God will help heal your broken hearts.
