In Celebration of

George Fredrick Winston Stull

May 19, 1941 -  December 7, 2022

Peacefully, with his family by his side, at the age of 81. Beloved husband of Evelyn Munro. Loving father of Roseleen Slaney and Julie Stull, and Step-Father of Christopher Sytnyk and Rebecca Sytnyk. Dear “Grandpa George” to Blake and Caitlyn Slaney, and Ben, Joshua and Andrew Casas.

George was born in Guelph and raised, along with 6 siblings, on his parent’s Guernsey dairy farm in Halton County. As a young person his skill with all things mechanical was evident as he could fix anything. In the early 70’s George became a licensed plumber and gas fitter. George proudly worked for Garbutt plumbing in Georgetown, before moving on to work at Curwood Packaging for almost 25 years. He was Working Supervisor of the mechanical division, keeping the manufacturing machines and equipment running. After the company was sold and new owners and productions moved in, he continued working in the facility for 6 years as a sole proprietor contractor.

George was a great member of his community throughout his life. He would generously offer his skills as a plumber and all-round handy man to all neighbours and friends, often accompanied in earlier years by his daughters, eager to be Daddy’s helpers. He could be usually found tinkering with an old tractor, or some piece of equipment that needed attention. When his daughters were young, late summers were spent camping and canoeing with family. George loved the outdoors, and would also contribute as a Scouting and Venturer Advisor, participating in community events, as well as camping trips. Early Autumn weekends were spent travelling to fall fairs with Roseleen and the Height family with the draught horses. He spent winter nights driving horse-drawn sleighs for his friend Roland’s business. George loved being with the horses and took great pride and care with them.

In 2004 George met Ev, moved to Etobicoke, and started a very different lifestyle. While helping and spending time with his family and community remained the most important thing to George, he added in a love of golf and bowling, trips to (and eventually winters in) Florida as well as trips across Canada. George has been a key contributor to the maintenance and gardening needs at Renforth Baptist Church and to the townhouse community he lived in.

This very talented man lived his life with generosity, gentleness, kindness, and humility. George often put others’ needs ahead of his own. He embodied the principle of “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”.

George was so loved by all of his family and community. His way of being, his approach to life, and his grace and dignity as he faced his own death, is an inspiration for us all.
