In Celebration of

George Emil Tafler

January 7, 1926 -  December 28, 2017

George passed away peacefully in Toronto on Thursday, December 28, 2017 in his 92nd year surrounded by his children and grandchildren. George will be dearly missed by his wife of 65 years, Lilian, with whom he created a warm, close and loving family. He will be lovingly remembered by his two children Andy (Jennifer), and Cathy (Doug); by his grandchildren Emily (Brian), Gillian (Steve), Katy, Tom and Sally; and his great-grandchildren Norah, Clara, Andy, Charlie and Anna. George was born in a small town in Hungary into a close and extended family and lived an idyllic childhood that was sadly interrupted by the Second World War. He survived the Holocaust and came to Canada in 1950 where he finished his degree in chemical engineering and met and married his life-partner, Lilian. George worked his entire career in the Canadian industrial chemical industry for the company ERCO. George and Lilian’s passions included extensive travel in Europe, art, history, music, and reading, but were always focused on their growing family. Summer vacations for all the family together near Algonquin Park were an annual highlight. A small, private Celebration of Life service will be held. If desired, in memorium donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
