In Celebration of

George Douglas McLeod

May 29, 1925 -  September 30, 2018

Quietly passed away on September 30, 2018 at Trillium Hospital and was predeceased by his loving wife, of 59 years, Frances E. McLeod (February 14, 2012). He is survived by his two children Sharon McLeod and Stephen McLeod (wife Michele) who he was extremely proud of their accomplishments.
Douglas grew up in the Kingsway and always had many stories to tell us of his youth while attending Etobicoke Collegiate Institute and then continuing his studies at Western University. After graduating from Western he decided business was the avenue that he wanted to travel, and became a Chartered Accountant receiving the designation of CA in December of 1953. In 1956, Doug and Fran moved to a new housing development in Applewood Acres where Doug continued to live until February 2015, after Frances passed away. It was in this tiny neighbourhood that many friendships developed and continued until very recently. After mandatory retirement at the age of 65 he decided retirement was not for him and began working at Humber College (Lakeshore Campus) teaching Accounting. He was passionate about this role and continued working part-time for almost 14 years. He decided three years ago to sell the family home and moved into Chartwell Robert Speck. It was by coincidence that he was reacquainted with many of his high school friends he knew from the Kingsway. Doug was extremely sociable and loved to talk to everyone that he met in the residence. He could usually be found comfortably sitting in one of the chairs at the entrance after meals where many long conversations took place. There will be a Memorial Visitation on Friday October 12, 2018 from 1 -4 p.m. at the Turner & Porter “Peel” Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga (Hwy 10 N. of the Q.E.W)(cremation has taken place). We would also like to thank the amazing staff of 5J, at the Trillium Hospital who took such wonderful care of our father in the last few months. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Trillium Health Partners, the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation or a charity of your choice
