In Celebration of

G. Stephen Cobbold

November 17, 1950 -  June 24, 2025

G. Stephen Cobbold died peacefully with his family on June 24, 2025 following a long and challenging illness. Steve is survived by his loving wife Joan, his children Sarah (Mike) and Peter (Megan) and grandchildren Blake, Emily, Eleanore, Maxine, and Sloane.

From his earliest days in Sarnia and Paris, Ontario, Steve displayed a competitive nature at the baseball diamonds, hockey rinks, and curling clubs. Steve played hard and he played to win no matter the sport or the season. A good sense of humour and passion set Steve in good sted at the University of Western Ontario where he acquired both an honours Geography degree and the love of his life. Joan and Steve’s partnership lasted for over 50 years.

Over Steve’s 37 year career with the Bank of Montreal, he worked with, trained and hired thousands. Steve gave selflessly to his various community organizations throughout his life, volunteering endless hours at ballparks, pools, Church, and mentorship programs, and yet managed to carve out time for travels with family and friends. Spring breaking for decades in Hilton Head, and searching with his beloved Joan for yet another Lighthouse.

We knew him and we loved him. His spirit beats forever now deep within our hearts.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday August 13th at Christ First United Church Mississauga, 1700 Mazo Crescent, Mississauga, ON, the Service at 11am and a reception following at 12 noon.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or Christ First United Church Mississauga.

My heart goes out to you, Joanie, and your family. I remember Steve, well, from university. He had great energy with his friends and was always up for having fun. He had a great smile. Watching the two of you together at University was wonderful, always laughs, glistening eyes and big smiles. My deepest condolences.
