Peacefully, Franca (Franchina) Merulla passed away at Trillium Hospital on October 8th in her 100th year. Franca will be sadly missed by her brother, Giuseppe , brother-in-law Mariano, nieces and nephews, Frances (Vincenzo), Michael, Vita (Sam), Cathy and Frank (Teresa) and great niece and nephews, Vincent, Elena, GianFranco, Anthony, Aidan, Austin and Bree and step nieces and nephew, Amanda, Tyler and Ashley.

Franca was born in Italy on April 27, 1919. She moved to Canada with her family in 1952. Franca retired from the Mississauga Hospital where she worked as a Nurse’s Aid until her 65th birthday. Her passions included gardening, sewing, cooking and travelling to her house in Florida whenever possible. She loved to celebrate with family and friends and will always be remembered as a very social, friendly woman.

More than anything Franca wanted to spend her last years in her own home. She was so proud of being able to do so until very recently. We would like to extend a very special Thank You to Zarita Guidolin, her caregiver and friend for many years. There are not enough words to express our thanks for your kindness and gentle care and concern for Franca’s comfort and wellbeing. Thanks also to the many PSWs who visited her daily, their dedication, care and kindness provided her such comfort. Her last few months were spent at Trillium Hospital where she previously worked. Thanks to the many doctors, nurses and PSWs who showed gentleness and compassion.

Franca will be sadly missed by family and friends!
