Filippo born in Roseto Valfortore, Italy on August 2, 1931, passed peacefully on Sunday, September 13, 2020 at the age of 89 surrounded by his loving family.

Devoted husband of 64 years to Giuseppina (Falcone) and loving father to Rosolina (Antonio Converso), Maria (Bruno Mucci) and Giovanni (Maria). Proud grandfather to Nelson, Sabrina, Abbie, Alicia (Richard Diniz), Anthony (beloved late), Amanda (Kevin Robinson), Nicolas, Philip, Andrew, and great-grandfather to Arianna. Cherished brother to late Lucia (late Filippo Falcone), late Lorenzo (Filomena), late Carmine (late Mary), Anna (late Giuseppe Maida) and Antonio (Rosaria), as well as an energetic and outgoing Zio to his many nieces and nephews.

After arriving in Canada in 1958, Filippo worked tirelessly to establish a future for his family. He used his skills developed in Roseto as a blacksmith to work in various jobs, including as a boilermaker, and as a welder for the Township of Etobicoke He ultimately succeeded in building a lasting family business, Menecola Doors and Windows, where he worked until his retirement. During his retirement years Filippo enjoyed tending to his garden, hosting weekly Sunday lunches for his family, and spending many weekends with his family and friends at his cottage in Wasaga Beach.

Filippo will be fondly remembered for his infectious smile, humour and unwavering dedication to his family and his community at Holy Angels Church.

Due to the current pandemic, Filippo’s funeral services will be private.
