In Celebration of

Ewart Munden Budgell

January 7, 1940 -  March 24, 2018

Born in Millertown Newfoundland to Mildred and Pierce Budgell, Ewart grew up in Grand Falls and Corner Brook where he gathered fond memories of catching fish and trapping for rabbits. As a teenager he moved to Kingston where he attended Albert College and excelled at sports and school.

At 16 he went to McGill where he worked hard, had lots of fun and played football for the inter-collegiate winning Redmen. As a young man he worked at McDonald Currie where he completed his CA exams with one of the best marks in Canada . He met Janet Birch in Montreal and married her in Reno Nevada in 1968. They raised two boys while moving between Ottawa , Montreal , and Toronto.

Ewart worked in corporate finance for much of his career in companies that include Domtar, CIP, Facelle, Atlantic Packaging and retired in Toronto in 1999. He was a keen sportsman and enjoyed playing hard and cheering on others. He also loved good food, drink, music, dancing, but above all he loved his family and friends.

Ewart passed away on Saturday, March 24th. He is survived by his sons Bill and Jason, his ex-wife Janet, his grandchildren Emily, Isaac, Abigail, and Alina, his brother Lloyd (Shirley), their children Janet, Bobby, and Geoff.

He was kind and funny, and had a way of making everything a little more fun. We will miss him a lot. Friends and family will be received at Turner and Porter ( 4933 Dundas Street West , Etobicoke) on Monday, April 2nd, with visitation from 10-11, service at 11 and reception to follow.

Mr. Budgell was my boss at Atlantic Packaging in Scarborough. I have, over the years, thought and spoke of him. I worked in the accounting department and have very fond memories of him. I will always remember him as being a very kind person and the best boss I have ever had. Rest in Peace Mr. Budgell. I will never forget your patience and kindness.

My sincere condolences for your loss Bill. Although I didn't have the privilege of knowing your father, I could see the type of man he was in you as kind, dedicated and helpful gentleman. May his soul rest in peace.
