In Celebration of

Eugenija Gincauskas

September 15, 1929 -  April 16, 2020

On April 16, 2020 at Labdara nursing home, Eugenija Gincauskas passed away peacefully at the age of 90. Predeceased by the love of her life, Stasys, in 1992. She leaves behind her daughter, Dr. Gina Gincauskas; son, Edward (Amy); grandchildren, Viktorija, Justinas, and Cicilija; brother, Antanas Bacevicius; sister, Ona Maleckas; and many nieces and nephews.

Eugenija was born in 1929 in a small village near Šakiai, Lithuania. During the second world war, her family fled her homeland, and as a young teenager, she arrived in Australia. There, she met her beloved husband, Stasys and they started a family. Eventually, her journey led her to Canada and she settled in Mississauga. Eugenija worked at the Mississauga hospital for many years as a dietary aide. During her retirement, she spent most of her time enjoying the outdoors, working in her garden in Wasaga Beach.

The funeral will be limited to a small group of immediate family members. A celebration of life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Labdara nursing home, who took wonderful care of her.

I first met Eugenija when I was 17 years old. Her husband Stasys, my uncle and my father's brother, Eugenija, and Gina visited us in East Chicago after there recent arrival to Canada from Australia. I was struck by Egenijas's simple beauty and gentle personality. She reminded me of the Swedish actress, Ingrid Bergman.

My husband Vytautas and I have very fond memories of spending time with Gina, and Eugenija in Vilnius 2009 and again in Toronto 2010 when we met Eddie and his lovely family. It was truly a wonderful moment getting together with the Gincauskas family. She was such a great hostess.

Vytas and I express our sincerest sympathy to my dear cousins, Gina and Eddie, for the loss of their beautiful mother, but at the same time we celebrate Euginija's life and are happy that we were a small part of it. Much Love, Aurelija and Vytas

My fondest memories of your Mother is her perpetual warmhearted smile every time I saw her at the"coffee hour" after the mass at Wasaga Beach.
