Eugene was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland in 1943. He trained as a teacher in Manchester before emigrating to Canada in 1969. He was a keen rugby player and a gifted storyteller, whose presence filled a room and who made friends wherever he went. Above all, he was a loving husband, a proud father, and a pillar of strength for those who needed him.
