In Celebration of
Ermelinda Calma
April 17, 1949 -
May 5, 2024
Ermelinda Calma, age 75, loving mother of two, and grandmother of six, passed away in the twilight hours on Sunday, May 5th after a courageous battle with uterine cancer. Ermelinda was born in 1949 in the Philippines and grew up surrounded by her five siblings. As the oldest, Ermie, as everyone called her, grew up with an inherent sense of responsibility, fierce loyalty, and need to care for all those around her. As time went on, Ermie was able to accomplish what she believed was her greatest achievement in life, becoming a mother to two beautiful girls. As a mother, she was selfless, loving and kind. She tried to instill in both of her girls a sense of pride in who they were, and who they would become, while still maintaining that the greatest gift they could give to the world was their kindness and love. Apart from her two daughters, Ermie’s greatest pride came from her six grandchildren, Syrena, Logan, Lucas, Liam, Alexis and Ellis. No six grandchildren were ever loved more.
No words can express how much she will be missed, but with broken hearts, we say a final goodbye to an extraordinary woman, a beautiful mother and friend.
“Spread your wings as you go and when God takes you back, he’ll say Hallelujah, you’re home.”
Ermie was survived by her two daughters, Laura and Joann, two sons-in-law, Chris and Will, and six grandchildren.
Chapel Service to be held at Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel (2357 Bloor Street West, east of the Jane Subway Station) on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at 3 p.m. Visitation to precede at 2 p.m.
