It is with great love and deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, father-in-law, and grandfather, Ennio Gasparet.
Born in Friuli, Italy, in 1936, Ennio was the middle child of three brothers. Having survived the Second World War, he bravely followed his dreams and came to Canada in 1956. His goal was simple yet profound — to learn a trade, build a better life, and start a family of his own. If you live in a brick building that was made before the 90s, there's a good chance Ennio helped build it.
In 1960, Ennio married the love of his life, Lisetta Zucatto, in Toronto. Together, they built a beautiful life in Toronto and Kettleby, creating a warm and loving home filled with laughter, hard work, and devotion to family.
After retiring, Ennio and Lisetta spent much of their time traveling — returning often to Italy, but also exploring the U.S. and Canada. From Texas to Florida, Arizona to Alaska, and from Yukon to Nova Scotia, they shared countless adventures before Lisetta’s passing in 2011.
In the years that followed, Ennio found comfort in caring for his home, spending time with his beloved grandsons, and staying connected with his extended AA family. Through his determination, humility, and steady presence, both of his families thrived. He was a true role model — a man of resilience, integrity, and quiet strength.
Ennio is survived by his daughter Susie De Franco (Joe) and his cherished grandchildren Jake (Liz) and Ben.
Ennio’s warmth, kindness, and boundless generosity will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew him. His courage, determination, and deep pride in his heritage will continue to live on through his child and grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a either CAMH or Canadian Cancer Society.
