Peacefully passed away at Dom Lipa Nursing Home the day after her 96th birthday. She was born in Mavcice Slovenia on March 20, 1928, and immigrated to Canada in 1948.
She is predeceased by her husband Lojze, her sisters Matilda and Mariana, and her brothers Joze, Mirko, and Edvard. Loving mother to Sylvia (Peter). Adored grandmother to Sara (Jean-Pierre), and Dina (Dragoljub), great-grandmother to Taylor, Tea, Brayden and Uma, and aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Emilija had numerous interests. She enjoyed her daily walks, crocheting, sewing, knitting, reading, gardening and doing word-searches. Upon retiring, she was a weekly volunteer at Dom Lipa where a group of retired ladies made crafts for the annual Dom Lipa bazaar fund raiser.
Emilija will be sadly missed by many loving relatives and friends.
The family wishes to express their sincerest gratitude to the staff and medical team at Dom Lipa for their thoughtful care and compassion.
Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Butler Chapel, 4933 Dundas St. W., Etobicoke (between Kipling & Islington Aves.) on Sunday from 5-8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, 739 Browns Line, Etobicoke, on Monday, March 25, 2024 at 11 a.m. Interment Assumption Cemetery. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or Dom Lipa.
