In Celebration of

Emanuel Nazarenu Gerada

August 27, 1927 -  February 22, 2019

Our beloved father and grandfather passed away peacefully on February 22, 2019 at 91 years old. He is remembered fondly for his sense of humour, stories and riddles as well as being able to fix almost anything. He was an excellent welder and sheet metal worker, as well as a part time plumber, mechanic, and general handyman. Many people in his home country and town recounted many years later how Emanuel (or Zaren as he was known) had fixed this, installed that thing or other, and all still worked like a charm. At age 52, he had the courage to leave his beloved Malta and immigrated to Canada to provide for better opportunities for his children. He loved to visit Malta but made Canada his new home. He was a man of faith who loved Our Lady of Grace ("Madonna tal-Grazzja"), St Michael, and his family. His hobbies included fixing things, watching hockey, gardening and taking care of his adored canaries. He will be missed by family, friends and those who knew him.

I always will remember his happy smile, when ever you met him. He always made you feel welcome. His love of gardening and his canaries revealed his presence in the natural world, of which he endeavored to make a better place. rest in peace.
